Being established in 2018, the Department of B.Voc Dairy Products and Processing has emerged as one of the well-recognized departments affiliated to Savitribai Phule Pune University, Pune. The department offers a degree of B.Voc in Dairy Products and processing. The course has received overwhelming response from the students since its inception. Presently, the department is headed by Dr M.S.More the Head and Coordinator of the Department.

Mission Statement of the Department

The department is committed to impart vocational as well as entrepreneurship skills among the students so as to enable them to be employable in public as well as private sector.

Objectives

• To bridge the skill gap by understanding the needs of rural and tribal students of the region.
• To make students practically prompt, develop managerial skills and create awareness about entrepreneurship among them.
• The Department now developing entrepreneurship qualities and skills in students at UG level.

Salient Features of the Department

1. Well-equipped Laboratories

The department has a well-furnished and well-equipped laboratory. Having received UGC Grant for running this course and enriching laboratories, the department has purchased equipment like

• Khoa making machine
• Ice-cream making machine
• Paneer press machine
• Deep freezer etc

2. Well-trained teaching faculty

• All teachers of the department are actively involved in teaching and research in the field of Animal Husbandry and Dairy Science.
• The teachers readily help and guide the students for their overall development.

3. Industrial Training and other activities

The department has successfully organized Four workshop related to Dairy Sector and arranged parents meet under the faculty members. Our Deparment organizes four to five guest lectures by eminent scholars of every subject. The department arranges minimum ten field visits per year to expose the students to the practical knowledge about various Dairy practices. The department provides one month training to students in various Dairy Industries. Department also organized one educational tour yearly through this students visited various Dairy industry.

For the vocational training, the department organizes following activities:

• Industrial training for a minimum fifteen days for students.
• Guest lectures on various topics.
• Minimum two field visits and one study tour in a year.
• Workshops on Dairy sector.
